Damn. I was gonna write something. Honest. It was even going to be witty and insightful, to make up for being away for a while. Now, I sit down, and it leaves me. *sigh* Such is the way of creative genius! As Winnie the Pooh would say.... "oh blogger!"

about "change"...
Thanks guys - wise words from you all.
Stacy: *nodding* any post (or posts *grin*) that can be summed up with a Beastie Boys lyric has the ring of wisdom. Very well put, and very insightful - muchas gracias.
Kevin: Carpe Diem (and luck happens to those who work for it) is a good perspective - thanks.
Danno: :) Always good to hear the friends are closer than the geography makes it feel. I know it, but it's good to hear it.
Tina: My friend, I will ALWAYS come chasing shiny things with you.
Thanks for playing guys - it was like getting a round of virtual hugs. :)

for all the Vampire fans...Happy Easter!
So, some "Easter" thoughts for the Vampire gamers out there.
Cappadoccia's driving goal is to diablerize God, right? So, wouldn't the son of God make a tempting target? Especially if the doctrine of the Trinity is to be believed, and Jesus was/is an element of God, not some diminished derivative.
So, what if, after Jesus was staked out on the cross to bake in the toasty Mediterranean sun, and then interred in his tomb, he wasn't quite dead yet? (It's just a flesh wound...) After all, he is the son of God, he's got to have some extra points in stamina.
So, not quite dead, and entombed for several days, with no one around... Makes a pretty tempting target, for someone, say, interested in tasting divine vitae, don't you think?
So what if the reason that tomb was opened on the third day, was that Jesus had a visitor. Cappadoccia decides to take advantage of weakened Jesus, and has a little snack. Maybe he drinks him all the way down. Maybe he decides to drink most of it, not wanting to spoil divine dinner with just an appetizer, and embraces Jesus instead. Maybe that's why Jesus rose from the dead. And maybe Cappadoccia is now a little bit closer to figuring out how to get to God...
I guess it would suck for Cappadoccia if the Moslems were right and Jesus was just a prophet, huh??
Thoughts to ponder! :)
Happy Easter!!

the test of a relationship...
So I come home from work today to be greeted with "Hi honey! Want to help me shave my ass crack?" Yeah, the things you want to know about my husband. For those of you who know Bilbo, you have some idea how furry he is. So, you can have some sympathy for the dutiful wife who has to shave his back (and ass crack!!!!!)!!!!. I swear - I'm glad he's working if for no other reason than it stops an unhealthy consumption of "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy"!!! I didn't mind him fuzzy - honest!
Then, I get all set to have a cuddle with my kitty cat, Keres - a sweet, affectionate, cuddly, DROOLY kitten!!!!! I mean, she's cute, but having her saliva drip down my back is not my idea of an endearing trait. Why is it that the "people" I love have to great me with such lovely gestures???? *sigh* I think some one wise once said "If you don't like someone, the way they hold their spoon will make you furious; if you do like them, they can turn their plate over into your lap and you won't mind."
I guess drool and body hair are kind of like that.

change
So, the Gemini in me wants to come out and play today, and I'm wondering - is change for the sake of change a good thing?
Stagnation and passivity are generally assumed to be bad things - but are they so different from stability and consitency? And, when speaking in terms of life in general, isn't trying new things, and experimenting, generally a good idea?
The Gemini in me demands that if my daily routine becomes too much of a routine, that I do something, anything, to spice it up. I get antsy if things stay the same for too long. So, is this a good thing, and ensuring that I am constantly broadening my horizons? Or, is it a dangerous tendancy to resist the comfort stability brings? That whole theme song bit comes to mind "when I grow up, I'll be stable. When I grow up I'll turn the tables..." Am I simply trying to dodge growing up and the perception that responsibility increases with it? (I say perception because really, the responsibility factor already applies - mostly! :)
One of the reasons this is all rolling around in my head, is that I realized I'm almost 27, and the longest job I've held was working for minimum wage at a book store. (A grand total of 16 months.) It's not that I've hated all my previous jobs (and I've never been fired - thank god!), but for some reason or other I've alwyas decided to "move on". It's always been for a good reason - or at least that's what I tell myself. But maybe, it's just been an un-healthy appetite for change.
And then again, maybe not. After all, in all of the jobs I've held, I've gone as far as I could reasonably go, in terms of responsibility and/or challenges. In the one job where I would have liked to go further, my position was cut due to funding restrictions. In that case change found me, I didn't go seeking it. Maybe the previous jobs were just stepping stones, and never really intended to provide an "end solution", you know, in the grand, cosmic order of things.
So, maybe my search for change is furthering my quest for stability? Too much of a leap? If each "change" is a step to bring me closer to that illusive goal of "success" and "happiness", maybe it's not such a stretch.
Who knows. Maybe for a semi-schitzophrenic, slightly bi-polar Gemini, change is the only consistent thing going.
Thoughts to ponder.

Beer Fest Briefing
And yes, I do work on the theory of "better late than never"...
So, as I mentioned previously, the Fest of Ale was a blast! Apparently there were over 4,000 festers through on Saturday, so it was a good thing we got started early. We got there at noon, when gates open, and drank (and ate, and wandered) till 5:00 - not bad for a novice! Cheap too - tix were only $12 per, and beer was your standard 3 oz glass, for a $1 token.
For those of you who are still in shock because I went to a Beer Fest - yup, I did, and I even drank beer, and liked it!!!
So, and inventory of the best brews there (by consensus of Bilbo, Cory, Shannon and I):
Cranog takes the cake - Backhand of God, if you like stout (and even if you didn't) was kickass, but they don't bottle, so you basically have to have it in the Okanagan. (So come visit - there's a pub a block away that serves it! :) )
Mt. Begbie was the first, and tasty! - The Cream Ale was the drink of choice.
Cannery Brewing Company - Tried this 'cause their t-shirts were cool! C'mon, is there a better reason??? (T-shirts read: Don't be afraid of the dark - Naramata Nut Brown Ale) The Nut Brown was very nutty.
Ridge Brewing Company - had the "Nutball" brown here, 'cause it had the most non-beer like items listed in its flavour description! It was yummy!
Then things get hazy...I know I had some black currant wheat ale from Unibroue, some Sleeman's Honey Brown, some ciders, some coolers (OK, so I didn't drink JUST beer - so sue me!), but it all kind of runs together after a while. :)
All in all, it was a wicked-fun event, and you should all come next year! :) Just don't have the Chinese smorg across the street from the hotel afterwards.... sounds like a good idea at the time, but resist!!
Here's to Beer Fests everywhere - may you always have friends close to share them with. Cheers!

ooohh.....look! is that something sparkly???
Ok... so I lapsed for a few days... But I'm back now!
And it was a bright, shiny beer cap that caught my attention - or maybe the sparkle of the tasting glass. That's right, it was the weekend of the Okanagan Fest of Ale, and it rocked! I even went, and drank beer!! Are you shocked? In fact, I drank more beer Saturday than I have in my entire life previous. (At least, I'm pretty sure that's true.... How many ounces in half of an ice-cube tray?) And that is in fact why this post is short and sweet - I'm still recovering. Actually it's mostly from lack of sleep..... Honest! However, scoop and reviews will be posted tomorrow, so tune in next time for details. :) In the meantime, nighty night, and sweet dreams!
